Story: Jackie and Lucy – together nicknamed 'Jucy' – are 20 something best friends who do everything together. Their days are spent working at a local alternative video store serving a variety of equally emotionally disenfranchised freaks and geeks. Always on the outside looking in but never alone as long as they have each other they combat boredom with their own special brand of 'joie de vivre'. When badgered by friends and family for being in a 'womance' (the girl equivalent of a 'bromance' – codependent, weird and incapable of living a normal life), the girls decide it's time to grow up. Jackie will snag the dreamy boyfriend and Lucy will land the job of her dreams, but will growing up mean growing apart?Written by Odin's Eye Ent

2011 sees a whole new crop of terrific Australian films like RED DOG,THE CUP, EYE OF THE STORM , and now this utterly hilarious spin onfemale friendship called JUCY after the two main characters. It is astrong contender for one of the most endearing and flat out funny buddyfemale films since CONNIE AND CARLA or MURIEL'S WEDDING. Two girls whoare best friends each go for the same role in a calamitous localtheater production of JANE EYRE. However, and hilariously, they rentthe 1934 Monogram Pictures poverty row DVD version and scope that outfor performance ideas. The local theater scene in perfectly representedby egomaniac and deluded types and even a reasonably handsome malelead. But it is the overall good nature of the film and the survival ofthe friendship and the very insightful set design and art directionthat lifts JUCY above it's modest production budget. Filmed in Brisbaneand with a simply charming sense of who they are and what the film is,JUCY will have smart teens and theater twenty-somethings rolling aboutas they recognize their own selves and friends depicted so neatly onthe screen. I really like this film a lot for not being stupid and forbeing a straightforward intelligent girl comedy about something otherthan the usual clichés. JUCY is great fun… and even has a briefmusical number to top it all off.
